Rajasthan And North India
26 Jan - 17 Feb
Dear Mr. Mridul,
Although I had a good opportunity to give feedback to Nathan who picked me up at the airport in Delhi on Feb. 17th, I did want to give some feedback directly to you. It was a wonderful trip and I would recommend Voyageurs to anyone who was is planning a trip to India. Nothing ever went wrong that was not easily corrected; the guides in each location were excellent though a couple were especially good and the hotels were all just fine, though once again there were a couple in which I would have liked to spend more time. My driver was excellent--three weeks is a long time to spend alone with someone in an unfamiliar country and there was never a moment when I was nervous about him or didn't feel that he was entirely trustworthy. His driving was VERY, VERY GOOD and I never worried that he was driving unsafely. I hope that you will make particular note of his excellence.
I particularly thought that the guides in Jaipur and Orcha were first rate and the head agent in Varanasi was excellent--he especially went out of his way to make sure everything went well as far as the airport was concerned and my departure to Delhi. Also the driver from Orcha to Khajuarho was also excellent and should be particularly noted.
My favorite hotel was Rohet Garh and I would have happily stayed there a couple of days. I also enjoyed Castle Bijaipur very much. The two hotels I was not very happy with were the ones in Mt. Abu and Bundi, but I understand why you have to use those two hotels and fortunately I was only in each one for one night so it didn't really matter. The Udaipur hotel, the Fateh Prakash Palace, was very kind to me and I thoroughly enjoyed myself there.
I know that there was a lot of trouble with my dates and the changes that had to be made, but I appreciate your patience and once again thank you very much for all the wonderful arrangements that you made on my behalf and also for making sure that my luggage arrived safely in Delhi.
With my very best wishes and gratitude,
Mary Davidson

Dear Mridul,
Let me repeat once again--We so enjoyed our trip, thanks to you, our driver Rotan and all the excellent guides! I have already recommended to 7 different friends of mine that they contact you and travel, as we did, to India with your help next January...I hope that they'll contact you, and, of course, I've told them to say that "Leah and Max from Beer-Sheva, Israel, referred us to you and vouched for you..." Meanwhile, Max is also talking up our trip with his colleagues as well... So hopefully you'll have more Israeli business coming your way...
Sincerely,
Ethelea Katzenell

Dear Mr. Chakraborty
For my wife Yadira and myself, we would like to thank you and your staff for helping us to have a wonderful time in India. I am sorry that we were not able to have that beer together. Our first couple of days there were difficult with Jet Lag. I appreciate the offer very much.
Your country was beautiful! The people were outstanding. There is so much of India that we in the states do not understand. Our perception of India has completely changed. We never could have imagined such a country, rich in culture, gracious in hospitality.
I will critique each city/tour that we experienced.
Delhi: The guide was very kind. Very knowledgeable. He took time with us to show us and to explain most of the important highlights to us. Time did not permit us to visit every site. For example: The Red Fort. The mosques and temples were very interesting. The U.S. is primarily Christian, we are very ignorant about Hindu & Muslim religions. We learned a great amount about the Hindu and Muslim religions (and their differences). Visiting Ghandi's grave site was a highlight. I am a personal fan of his.
The Hotel was Very Nice. We greatly enjoyed the Breakfast/Buffet. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
We were very disappointed that we did not have 1 minute to shop in Delhi. Our time was consumed with the tour. We had heard so much of the shopping in Delhi, and never had a chance to experience it.
Agra: We arrived in Agra about 2 PM. It was an interesting journey. After the hotel check-in, we went to the Taj Mahal about 3 PM. The Taj Mahal was the highlight of our trip. Our only disappointment was the rush to see it and leave. Our guide wanted to show us other sites before dark. 1.5 hours at such an incredible site is not enough. The Fort across from the Taj Mahal was very nice. We had to beg the guide to allow the driver to take us to a market to shop. He wanted so much to show us everything in Agra, but didn't want us to have time to shop. The guide was very nice, but was hurrying us to see everything. It was difficult to enjoy everything while being hurried along. He did not want us to stop for 1 minute to shop with the local vendors outside of the Taj Mahal. We had to insist that he not continue the tour and allow us to shop a little.
The hotel was exceptional. Clean, friendly, wonderful food.
Jaipur: What a wonderful place! This was the favorite place of my wife. The Guide was the Best! He spoke perfect English and Spanish. He was kind and knowledgeable. He taught us more about the Hindu religion and the culture of the small communities in India than any other guide on the trip. We highly recommend him. The Elephant ride and Amber Fort were wonderful. I am glad that we added this to our itinerary. It was well worth it.
The hotel was very nice. Clean and well located.
Ranthambhore: This was a uniquely different place. The Safari's both Morning & Afternoon were very nice. But honestly, one (either morning or afternoon) would have been sufficient. The afternoon safari was nicer. Because of the poaching of the tiger's that took place, seeing Tiger's were difficult. We were not able to see any. If a tourist is short on time, it would probably be better to cut this from the itinerary. We are happy we went, but it was a long journey for this town.
We only met the guide or contact person there briefly on the first night. We never saw him again.
The Hotel was very nice. The food was very good. The people were exceptionally wonderful and hospitable.
Mumbai: What a City! It was very nice. We are happy we went there. The hotel was wonderful. The best of all buffets. They did not have our reservation when we arrived at 11:00 PM. This was a little disappointing, but everything worked out well. The real problem was that the hotel was so far away from the city. It took 2 hours to go from the airport to the hotel. When we went on the half day tour in Mumbai, it took 2.5 hours to return to the hotel. The real problem is not the distance, but the traffic. It is the worst I have every seen in my life. The guide (Douglas) was very nice and knowledgeable. Unfortunately the driver was not the nicest person. When he met us at the airport, he said hello to me and took my bag. He never acknowledged my wife with "Hello" or offering to take her bag. He had the very same manner the next morning. He spoke very little. He was not very friendly. The guide, though very nice, did not want to leave us in the market to shop. We had to insist that he leave us somewhere to shop. We took a taxi back to the hotel.
Again, the hotel was the Nicest of all. Just far from the city. If we were staying in Mumbai longer, staying there would be fine. If only for 1-2 days, in the city would be better.
About our driver in Delhi, Agra...: Kailash Chand. He was absolutely the BEST! No exception. He spoke very little English, but we found ways to communicate. We was always on time. Always polite. He treated me and my wife with respect. He went out of his way to show us extra sites and always remained on time to our destinations. I can not say enough good things about him. It would be our pleasure to have him as our driver anytime. Thank you for assigning him to us.
In summary: Our trip was an experience of a lifetime. We enjoyed it thoroughly. Before we finished our trip, we were already planning our next trip to India. The next time we hope to see Kashmir, Haridwar & Goa. It was a great disappointment for me not to be able to find the liqueur "Fenny?" Nowhere sells it. I tried to find it. I was told I can only get it in Goa. I guess that gives me a reason to visit Goa?
Thank you again for all your hard work with our reservations. I hope you have recovered from your Heart Attack?
Sincerely,
Paul Russo
